The Buyer is responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment to source equipment, goods and services and the management of vendors. The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute strategic procurement activities designed to meet our procurement requirements pursuing the best possible service and prices. Assist in the development and implementation to enhance systems and procedures in materials planning that continually improve overall effectiveness. Maximize the utilization of the information system in all areas of material management to enhance the effectiveness of all physical and human resources.

Buyer Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of purchasing and inventory systems.
- proven working experience as a buyer.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of policies and procedures of purchasing; complies with and applied policies and procedures appropriately and consistently.
- Combined 5+ years of experience in a warehouse or storeroom setting working with supply chain management, inventory, lean, supply chain operations or vendor performance management.
- Previous trucking or automotive industry experience preferred.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Exercise discretion in the acquisition and administration, balancing cost, quality, and supplier service, of all materials and services necessary for the company’s production and operating needs. Work with suppliers to reduce costs throughout the supply chain.
- Maintain awareness of economic and business conditions, responding to change, as necessary.
- Exercise independent judgment to oversee corporate purchasing processes in order to maintain accuracy and cost effectiveness.
- Obtain familiarity with major current and potential sources of supply.
- Review and approve material orders, requisitions, and stock records, reorder points and purchase quantities.
- Develop and interpret relevant data and analysis for use in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and other functional activities.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
- Exercise discretion in resolving vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Working knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code Terms and Conditions and Contract terms for purchase and sale of goods.

Strong professional negotiating skills, establishes, maintains, and improves supplier alliances, partnerships, performance, and contingency plans; identifies and remediates risks to the company from supply sources.
