Mining Foreman
- Hiring Location Dover, OH
The successful candidate for this role will have uncompromising emphasis on safety, be a self-starter and will have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervising up to 40 quarry/mine employees and plant operations in a limestone, clay, and coal surface mine
- Overseeing proper implementation of safety procedures
- Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the plant to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions
- Plan the daily operation scheduling of plant production to ensure optimal utilization of plant and equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures in regard to mining, processing, stockpiling, loading and shipping
- Ensure the mine activities are achieved to planned specifications
- Assist upper management to control costs to meet budgets and reduce costs to achieve savings
- Identify deficiencies and implement a plan for continuous improvement
- Effectively manage direct reports by setting clear performance objectives providing regular feedback, and providing development through training
- Ensure compliance with all company and government policies and regulations
- Work with Operations Manager in budgeting and forecasting
- Ensure processes for quality production and collection with QC department
- Work with maintenance, environmental, and engineering to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly plans are aligned
- Participate in health and safety meetings and risk reviews as required
- Perform all other duties assigned by management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or equivalent time spent in related field, preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quarry mining, surface coal mining or related field
- Mining Foreman's license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of hourly and salaried employees and contractor employees
- Ability to regularly stand and/or walk for long periods of time including on rough terrain and able to bend, stoop. climb, and reach
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments
